Tips for Overseeing the Flowers for Your Daughter’s Summer Wedding

Has your daughter asked you to be in charge of the flowers for her summer wedding? If so, maybe you are looking for ideas that will make each floral arrangement unique and lovely. Read on for some ideas that might help you.

Divide One Responsibility Into Three

Start by dividing the flowers into categories based on where they'll go. One of those categories will be your daughter's bridal bouquet and the flowers her attendants will carry. The next category would come under flower arrangements for the centerpieces at your daughter's wedding reception. Whether your daughter will be having the wedding ceremony in a church or somewhere else, you'll probably want flowers to beautify the area where your daughter and her fiancĂ© will take their vows.

The Bridal Bouquet and More

Before you meet with the florist, obtain a list of your daughter's favorite flowers. The florist will use that list to create your daughter's wedding bouquet and the flowers others will carry or wear.

Then plan out the wedding bouquet. If your daughter is wanting something that is both traditional and unique, think of asking the florist to use a family Bible or a beloved book of poems as part of the bouquet. For example, the Bible or the book would be the base for flowers like roses, chrysanthemums and baby's breath.

The florist might suggest that your daughter's attendants carry mini versions of her bouquet, minus the book. Don't forget to order corsages for the mothers and grandmothers of the bride and groom. If there will be little flower girls, think of asking the florist to create wrist corsages which will be easier for the little girls to handle.

Flowers for the Centerpieces

Consider having a tall, elaborate floral arrangement for the main serving table. Since people won't be sitting at that table, you won't have to worry about people's conversations being disturbed by flowers that are between them.

Use the same flowers for the individual tables, but make them low enough so guests can talk to each other. Another idea is to have mini flower arrangements at each person's place at the table. Enhance the arrangements by adding things like candles and framed photographs of the bride and groom.

Flowers for the Ceremony

Think of asking the florist to focus on candles, For example, a very large candelabra that is decorated with the same flowers that will be used in your daughter's wedding bouquet would be perfect. If the ceremony will take place in a church, small floral arrangements at the end of each pew would add interest and beauty to the ceremony setting.
